Kitchen Renovation

Last year Todd and I were house hunting and we found the perfect little starter home for us and our puppies. We bought the house because it was the perfect size and it didn't need much work.

However, we knew that eventually we wanted to update the kitchen. Well, we didn't think we would be doing this so soon, but after living in this house for about ten months we decided we couldn't take the limited kitchen space any longer. Here comes our first large renovation project!

Here is what the kitchen looked like:

Look how cute little Haven is. :)

As you can tell, we don't have much room.
Our plan was to knock out this wall
(the one with the beautiful orange paint)
so that we can create an open floor layout.

Notice I needed a glass of wine to deal with all of this.

Below is the idea Todd and I came up with for the layout of our house.

Look at all that counterpace! Look at all of those cabinets!
So pretty and open.

So, we enlisted the help of our families and their friends and we began this huge project. Our first road block was the wall, it was a bearing wall, and needed to be supported.

Easy enough right?
We put up a beam and got the open look that we were hoping for. After removing the cabinets and appliances we are half way to our new kitchen. But, we are living without a kitchen, which is extremely hard. Here is what the kitchen looks like now.

Here's to hoping this project gets done by Easter!
